To Upgrade or not to upgrade?

 That is the question.

Remember when you first purchased your computer and noticed how fast it worked?  With no slow downs, reboots or crashes!  Chances are that you are just like all of us that, over time and the many downloads, software updates, free programs, possible virus and spyware contamination or just that the newer programs and games need more resources to run properly.  A format and software re-installation or a hardware upgrade maybe all that you need to get your computer back on track.

The first step is to try to get the computer back to where it was when you first bought it.  Backup all your data and do a factory re-install from the restore disks that you got with your computer (providing that you could find them).  If you still think that an upgrade is necessary because of slowness, there are two items to consider next before replacing the computer.

One is to increase the amount of RAM memory.  Although this won’t increase the speed of the computer, it will prevent the computer from bogging down when you are running your programs or several programs at once.  The second solution would be is to replace the CPU chip to the maximum size that the bios of the motherboard can handle.  This upgrade will speed up your computer.   These  items are relatively inexpensive and may extend the life of your computer before totally replacing it.
